Science Fiction Short Story

One Paris night, in 1798, a young boy was born. The baby did not come out crying, but he came out laughing. The baby was born with pale gray skin and vivid fiery red hair. From the moment he was born, his father, Nicholas Louis Vauquelin, knew he was special.

The fact that Chrome was 24 child of 118 meant he didn’t know even half of his siblings. He had a great relationship with his brothers Lead and Iron. He has two younger siblings that he knew of, they were twins that went by 2 Hy, but their formal name was The Hydrogen Twins. He also had a best friend named Oxygen and a girlfriend named Hydrochloric Acid. Hydro knew she was Chrome’s weakness, but she didn’t care. She was working for the Helium because she’d promised her a noble spot.

Around the age of 15, Chrome grew into his powers. He realized he could be paired with his siblings to produce new colors, he could gain electrons from thin air and become as deadly as a bullet. And when he and his sister Potassium were paired, they were unstoppable; they could identify the presence of any element around.

One night after Chrome and Hydro’s terrible break up, there were explosions going off all over the earth’s crust. Chrome knew he couldn’t stop Hydro by himself, because he’d dissolve, but he also knew with his best friend and siblings they could do anything. Chrome called everyone to his house and got started on killing super villain Hydro. Oxy tried to call Sodium for help, but she couldn’t make it. Chrome and Potassium powered up to identify all surrounding elements and compounds, luckily it was only Hydro. The Hydrogen Twins and Oxy powered up to kill Hydro.

Lead and Iron help to camouflage Chrome so that Hydro couldn’t find him. Chrome morphed into his powder form and started to attack. He used his fire powers to set off fires to cause obstruction in Hydro’s path. Finally Sodium showed. Sodi used his explosive powers to react with The Hydrogen Twins plus Oxy to try and stop Hydro, but she was too strong. She was still coming, but not fast enough.

Chrome was still setting off explosions all over the city. Chrome felt he was strong enough to do the explosions, but he wasn’t. He was getting weaker with every explosion. Chrome could feel himself getting weaker, but he had to protect his friends. He had to think quick. He quickly called Potassium and Phosphate so they could help him. They helped him turn into a red color so that he could blend in with the fire everywhere and find a way to attack Hydro. Everyone was doing their job. And they were all becoming stronger as a team.

In order for The Hydrogen Twins plus Oxy to have enough energy to defeat Hydro, they would need another set of them selves. Being that they had over 100 other siblings, they knew their family had to have another set of Hydrogen Twins somewhere and Oxy had a twin sister she could just call. Chrome rushed inside to call his Daddy and asked if there was another set of twins. Fortunately there was. But they were all the way in the gauge universe. Luckily, they were gases so they could get here quickly.

Chrome still needed to stall while they got here. When Chrome returned to the action outside, he realized that Hydro had called a human for help. Chromium just chuckled at her silliness; he could easily kill this human with ease. Chromium gained six electrons from Iron and went to work as his Hexavalent self. He quickly jumped down the human's throat and attacked his kidneys. Then he attacked his blood sugar, making it go through the roof and the human couldn’t see and just fell out. After the human had died, Chrome came out of the body and simply said, "too easy Hydro."

Finally, the second set of Hydrogen twins had arrived and saved the day. They paired with Oxy’s twin. Then they mixed with the other water molecules. Next Sodi set off the water explosions everywhere. Hydro didn’t know what was hitting her. Hydro was diluting fastly. Soon Hydro was merely a puddle of what would’ve been Chloride. And this is how Captain Chrome and his posse had saved the day for their first time.
