On the early hours of April 11th 2011, it was announced that the Doctor Who Actress Elisabeth Sladen had passed away after her battle with Cancer. Elisabeth Sladen was most famous for her role as Sarah Jane Smith. Sarah Jane appeared alongside the 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th Doctor.

Elisabeth Sladen first appeared in Doctor Who as Sarah Jane Smith in 1973 alongside the 3rd Doctor played by Jon Pertwee. She then continued alongside the 4th Doctor played by Tom Baker in 1974. After departing Doctor Who, Sarah Jane returned in 2006 alongside the 10th Doctor played by David Tennant in 'School Reunion' in Series 2 of the revival. She then teamed up with the 11th Doctor played by Matt Smith in her hit Spin Off CBBC show called 'The Sarah Jane Adventures'.

'The Sarah Jane Adventures' ran from 2007-2011. It ran for 5 Series with a total of 53 Episodes. Series 5 of the Sarah Jane Adventures was half complete. This was due to Sladen passing away. However the completed half of the Sarah Jane Adventures was released. She battled many creatures in this Spin Off show. Such as 'The Bane', 'The Trickster', 'The Gorgon' and so on. Sarah Jane adopted a son in this Spin Off show called Luke Smith. Luke appeared in Doctor Who at the right times.

Elisabeth Sladen was an extremly talented, loving, excitable and fulfilling actress. She gave everything into her role as Sarah Jane Smith and is deeply missed by all fans of Doctor Who. The news rocked the world when her passing was announced. The Doctor Who Series 6 Opening Episode 'The Impossible Astronaut' was dedicated to Elisabeth Sladen. This is due to her passing and it was first broadcasted the Saturday after her passing.
