There is always that one Episode of Doctor Who that tears you apart and makes you break down in tears. New Who is famous for that. From Rose Tyler to Amy Pond! Which one breaks you down the most?

There's certainly 3 companions that have had tearful exits. Rose Tyler (Series 2), Donna Noble (Series 4) and Amy and Rory Williams (Series 7a).

I'm going to order these 3 in order I feel that are most tearful. I expect you'll agree here too. Every one of these scenes brought a tear to my eye. They're all so heartbreaking. That's the thing about Doctor Who.

3) - Amy and Rory William's Farewell in Manhattan

After defeating the Weeping Angels and creating a big paradox in Manhattan, the Doctor, Amy, Rory and River Song saved the Earth once again. What the Doctor didn't know it was Amy and Rory's last farewell.

After wiping out the Weeping Angels the 4 of them end up in the graveyard where they started. The Doctor, River and Amy walk into the TARDIS ready to leave. Rory slowly follows but notices a grave with exactly "his name" written on it. Rory calls back Amy to take a look. Rory was stood in an awkward place because suddenly Rory disappeared. A surviving Angel had sent him back in time! Amy didn't see it as Rory was blocking it.

Just like any other couple a husband and wife want to be together. Amy decides she wants to be touched by the Angel to be with Rory. The Doctor is breaking down in tears as is Amy. The Doctor persuades Amy to stop what she is doing so they can work something out. Amy just didn't want to. Amy said her heartbreaking last line "Raggedy Man, goodbye", turned around and was touched by the Angel. Grab your tissues, fans of Amy and Rory broke down in tears because of their exit. This episode has me in tears every time I watch it.

The music is well put together here and really sets the scene. The music from Murray Gold makes the scene more dramatic and heartbreaking. This Episode has the best soundtracks from New Who! Masterpieces.

Did You Notice What River Did?

Yes River was upset. She just lost her parents. Obviously it's devastating. But River will do anything to protect the Doctor. The Doctor was heartbroken and needed time to get his emotions out. He looked away from the Angel! Why didn't it move? Whilst the Doctor was breaking down River was constantly staring at the Angel to keep it in place so the Doctor could have his moment to himself.

This is personally my favourite Amy and Rory Episode.

2) - Goodbye The Doctor Donna

I loved Donna. Sassy and sarcastic Donna Noble. After defeating the Daleks and Davros on the Crucible, Donna began to struggle. Earlier on she touched the Doctor's spare hand which created another Doctor. This Doctor was part Time Lord, part human. But what Donna didn't know, the Regeneration energy went into her giving her the knowledge of a Time Lord. The Doctor Donna.

Donna and the Meta Crisis Doctor

It came the time that Donna's memory needed to be cleared before it killed her. Donna refused as she was going to spend the rest of her life with him. The audience at home we're starting to cry because we all loved Donna Noble. The Doctor began to wipe her memory and we got a flashback of her time with the Doctor. Again, the music here sets the scene so well. It's so touching. The beat of the music is what brings the tears to your eyes as you don't want Donna to leave the Doctor. They got on so well together. They had so much left to see.

Goodbye Donna

But remember this isn't the last time we see her.

1) - Rose's Farewell On Bad Wolf Bay

This Episode is the day the whole Whoniverse broke down. The first companion of New Who got a dramatic exit. Stuck in a Parallel Universe from the Doctor. After the battle of Torchwood between the Daleks and Cybermen, Rose slipped off the handle and almost got taken away. Luckily Pete Tyler came back to rescue her from being trapped. All that's in the way now is a wall. Rose is smacking the wall breaking down telling Pete to take her back. Rose has her moment and her family all stand back devastated because of Rose's loss. They had been together so long and saw so much! So much more was left out there to be found by them both. But sadly it came to an end.

But Rose got to see the Doctor one last time. This time Doctor Who really did break our hearts. The Doctor and Rose are face to face one last time to say goodbye. What was heartbreaking was the Doctor never got the chance to finish his sentence off. "Rose Tyler, I love..." He was so close. Rose broke down once again but this time in her mums arms. Even the Doctor began to break down in the TARDIS as he just said his last farewell to Rose Tyler. But what he doesn't know. She'll be back.

He's just an image

The music is well constructed here. The Doomsday theme is outstanding and puts the characters in the scene nicely.

There you go!

The Top 3 heartbreaking endings to these amazing companions. Do you have an all time favourite. Obviously we're not forgetting Martha Jones. Martha just walked out on the Doctor in Series 3 to be with her mum after defeating the Master. Nice and simple.
