Autumn Contemplations

The Autumn Equinox was a few days ago, even though Autumn usually starts at the end of August up here in Oregon. And by that, I mean the weather dropped early and leaves changed color all too quickly. That's what usually happens up here in Oregon — don't ask me why, because I really don't know.

Mystie and I both looked out of the windows of the bus, enjoying the scenery and the loveliness that the Autumn weather gives us. She has to sit on top of my backpack to look out, seeing that she's too small to sit in a seat and look out the window. I kinda feel bad for her, but I also appreciate the fact that she's small because that makes her easy to carry. I wish that I had more friends like Mystie. Then again...I don't think that everyone would share my opinion.

As we were looking out the windows of the bus, Mystie decided to look up at the leaves in awe of the different colors of leaves.

"All the leaves are so pretty," Mystie commented, "I wish that I could change color like that."

"Like a chameleon?" I asked.

"What's a chameleon?" Mystie asked, I looked at her as she looked at me.

"A chameleon is an animal that can change color by touching an object," I explained, "but they don't usually do that unless they're hiding from a predator."

"Oh," Mystie said. "That's awesome."

Mystie looked back out the window, fascinated by the outside world.

"I can't wait for it to be winter," Mystie commented, fluffing up her purple hair with her tiny purplish-pink hands. "Then we can have Christmas again."

"At least Halloween is coming up," I said with a smile. "Then you'll be able to try candy this year."

"Will we dress up and go trick-or-treating?" Mystie asked, looking up at me.

"Eh," I said with a shrug. "I don't think that that's a good idea."

"Why not?" Mystie asked.

"It's supposed to be a kid thing." I answered.

"But, you're a Kidult," Mystie replied confused. "Don't Kidults go trick-or-treating?"

"Only if they're invited," I answered. "If a Kidult goes trick-or-treating by themselves, people will look at them weird."

"That doesn't sound nice," Mystie said, hugging my hands.

"It's okay, " I said. "Besides, maybe it would be a good idea to go out trick-or-treating. We both need to get out more."

"Yay!" Mystie cheered, waving her tiny purple arms around in joy.

I looked back outside, watching as we pass by the trees with a smile. It amazed me how time changes things, even the little things. As the seasons change, so do we...except for Mystie.

She hasn't changed a bit since the day I got her.

"How come people like going fast?" Mystie asked me.

I looked back at her, confused by her question.

"Huh?" I asked.

"I've noticed that humans like everything going fast," Mystie said, wiggling her small purplish-pink feet. "I wonder why that is?"

"People forget to enjoy the things in life," I answered, "which is why it's hard for people to enjoy time with their families and the things in life."

"Except us," Mystie says. "We got this covered."

I giggled and nodded in agreement; Mystie crawled over to me and hugged me with her tiny arms in which I hugged her back.

"I love you, Jyro," Mystie said.

"I love you too, Mystie," I replied.

Who knew that my best friend would be a tiny stout of awesomeness with purple fire and bright purplish-pink eyes?

"Hey you!" The bus driver shouted, in which Mystie and I looked at him. "Your bus stop is here."

I quickly looked outside to see the bus stop, then back at the driver. I thanked the bus driver and stood up, in which Mystie climbed up my shoulder and sat on there. I then proceeded to the back of the bus, where the back doors opened.

"And do me a favor," the bus driver said, in which Mystie and I both looked at him. "Try applying for the theater down town, they need a ventriloquist."

I laughed as I said, "Sorry, sir, but I'm not exactly cut out for the job. Thank you, though."

I stepped off the bus and watched it drive away, going to other places to pick up and drop off other people.

"What's a ventriloquist?" Mystie asked.

"It's a person who can make puppets and dummies talk," I answered.

Mystie looked at me confused.

"But, I'm not a dummy," she said. "I'm a Frizzy-Lola Monster."

"I know," I said. "That's why I said that I wouldn't make the cut."
