"Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg's classmate, Calvin O'Keefe, and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe." A technical, word for word definition of the summary of A Wrinkle in Time.

The definition Google provides when A Wrinkle in Time appears in the search bar. The mere definition does not begin to scratch the surface. When you delve into the world of Meg Murry, a loving and trouble-developing child faced with insecurities we see daily, a sense of association begins to develop with you, the viewer. As the viewers, our immediate liking of a film is when we can connect to the main character on a deeper, personal level and can associate with situations occurring on screen.

Racking in $61,059,654 thus far is a wonderful achievement in filmmaking, yet, money is not all a film is based on. Cinematography, cast, and the message a movie leaves the audience with is what makes up the basis for such a large number. For a two-hour length film, I was provided with more information on science, and the universe than I would have liked to receive.

Family and friends who need a distraction from everyday life, or just want a family friendly activity together, this is a good choice. This film would not have been possible without a strong-willed and strong-minded individual who sat down and thought out every single detail. Unfortunately, there are changes that need to be made and the changes are more than minor.

The science theories that are talked about throughout the film may be a little all over the place at the beginning, but by the end of the film, it is explained perfectly and the overall message becomes much more important than science. For the lovers of science theories and equations, this film provides only a small detail on the work of Alex Murry perfected in his laboratory. It is important to understand what scientific equations are explained, yet it is not the film's desired depiction.

Ava DuVernay, a brilliant woman and director, blessed us with a masterpiece, but it failed to impress me and take me on a journey, which is what she most likely intended to do. A Wrinkle in Time, an originally beautifully crafted masterpiece guaranteed to make you think about the bigger picture turned out to be quite a flop with viewers. Opinions are the basis of the success of this film and not one opinion is wrong, yet tread carefully on your opinion of this film. There is not a single situation that the characters encounter that we do not encounter in a day. The choice is yours. I pray you make the right one. See A Wrinkle in Time only if you absolutely must and or want to, but I do not personally recommend it. The film is wonderful when getting the audience to connect to personal situations and the aspect of your life, but unfortunately, that is all the film does.

This film goes back and forth on being a huge flop or masterpiece, yet it seems to be directly in the middle. At this point, A Wrinkle in Time is strictly a "I love it!" or "worst film of 2018." Still, it does have a chance to be successful in the box office, but unfortunately, so many changes need to be made. Most importantly, the acting was forced and it appears very obvious throughout the two hours I wasted. That being said, read the novel, and base your opinion off that. While skeptical, I wish I had trusted my original thought and decided not to see it. This film has so much potential, yet did not quite hit it out of the ballpark.
