In the world of Doctor Who, anything can happen — from spectacular time travel, to all kinds of bizarre aliens. But, what about a companion deciding on how they depart the show? News has emerged that Karen Gillan, who played Amy Pond, decided how her character was to depart #DoctorWho. You'd think if a companion was to decide on their own fate, they'd make it a happy one? Apparently, Karen Gillian decided she wanted to be killed off by a Weeping Angel, which has been explained in an interview with current showrunner, Steven Moffat:

“I’m always trying to keep people happy, I popped the Zygons into 'The Day Of The Doctor' for David — he got to snog one, which he’s always wanted to, the naughty scamp — and Karen specifically asked to be offed by a Weeping Angel. Pushover, me.”

Hardcore fans know that Amy and Rory weren't technically killed off in the show, they were just sent back in time and lived a happy life in the 1900s. With the happy couple sent back in time by the deadly stone creatures, fans have always wondered what life they both lead after leaving the Doctor and their daughter behind.

Their Responses May Surprise You

Back in 2015, it marked three years since Amy and Rory bowed out of the show. On September 29th, 2015, both Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill took to Twitter to reveal how their life was going, and it's pretty surprising. Well, Arthur's Tweet isn't as surprising.

However, Karen's Tweet was the completely different to what the new showrunner, Chris Chibnall, had planned. In an exclusive scene that was never filmed, Chibnall visioned the Ponds/Williams having just one child in 1940s New York. It's likely this was going to be the finale to the mini-series "Pond Life," which was featured on the DVD boxset for Series 6. But who knows?
