Are Comic Books Finally Great Again?
Comic books have had a rough go of it in recent years. Despite the booming big screen business that has seen Marvel, and to a lesser extent DC, dominate the box office, the printed counterparts to these cinematic capers have struggled to make the same connection with the modern audience.

Are Comic Books Running out of Steam?
Comic books permeate our culture to a greater degree than ever before. It seems that you can’t open a magazine, switch on the television, or even stroll through the supermarket without coming face to face with some spandex clad hero. And yet, despite this social acceptance of a culture once considered relatively niche, sales continue to be middling to poor, and the grand story arcs that set readers abuzz in years gone by have all but disappeared. Is the comic book industry one that is running out of steam?

Have Horror Films Ever Been Quality?
Horror films have been a staple of cinema since the advent of films as a mainstream medium of entertainment. They’ve birthed untold nightmares in the minds of children and adults alike, tapping deep into the fears that lay within even the best of man. It would stand to reason then that the genre will have had a golden period of sorts to point to as a shining example of the form, but that isn’t really the case.

'Ozark' Is Not the Greatest Show Since 'Breaking Bad'
Read almost any review of Netflix’s hit drama Ozark, and you will very likely read that it is the greatest show since Breaking Bad or is the next incarnation of it. This could be due to a simplified understanding of the subject matter or just lazy writing but the fact is that whatever the case it is simply not true; Ozark is not the best thing since Breaking Bad. Narcos is.

Is Diversity Killing Comics?
Pay enough attention to the comic book forums and you will notice one excuse for poor sales cropping up again and again…diversity. Unbelievable as it may sound, people are actually convinced that this is the leading cause of people turning their backs on the industry. Could there be any truth to these claims?

How Can DC Save Their Movie Universe?
If you’re reading this then the likelihood is that you’ve seen at least a portion of the movies on offer from Marvel and DC. If that is the case then you’ll be very aware of the disparity in quality that exists between the two cinematic universes. DC have been lagging behind for some time now with stale offering after stale offering and seemingly no idea how to break out of their tailspin. These are just a few suggestions of how to fix things.

Winter in Korea
When I was a child my mother read to me stories of the future, as I’m sure yours did for you. In them were the most wondrous imaginings that captured my young mind and refused to let it go. If you’re at all like me then you thought that you’d grow up to see flying cars, tubes that zipped you from place to place instead of stuffy buses, and man colonising far flung worlds so unlike our own. Perhaps that could have been, perhaps in some alternate dimension all of those incredible stories came to pass but this is not that place, this is the dimension where humanity lost its place atop the totem pole and from coast to coast, all across this once vibrant planet, the darkness reigns.

The Problem with AAA Games
It is no secret that Indie games have been increasing in popularity at an impressive rate for a number of years now and, in many ways, are held in higher regard than the big company’s titles. What exactly is the reason for this trend and where have AAA titles gone wrong?

Is The Joker the Greatest Villain in Comic Books?
If you ask the average person who the best villain is in the world of comic books they will likely all answer with the same name, The Joker. He is a juggernaut on both the printed page and the big screen, garnering more attention than any other baddie that has come before or after him. But is he truly the greatest villain in all of comics?

Is Comic Book Justice Really Just?
Superheroes; they’re a paragon of virtue, the most moral of us all and those whom we can hold up high as something to strive for. At least, that is the intention behind the vast majority of them, but in reality, is comic book justice really just?
