Whether you're a fan from as early on as 1977, only recently hopped on the bandwagon as of The Last Jedi, or was among the few who found awe in the prequels, Star Wars has given us some of the most powerful and meaningful phrases in sci-fi, and possibly even cinema.

Some of them are instances of well-timed and -crafted dialogue, others simply characteristic remarks that make the story that much more pleasing, and even fewer are imbedded strands of a starway-long plot line that still expands to this day. There is now more information about Star Wars than there are holocrons in the Jedi Temple Archives. And, with a whole new lineup of upcoming films, theme parks, and various future developments, it's safe to say that Disney is well-prepared to don the saga's helm.

Despite this, backlash developed amongst fan and critic alike concerning reviews for The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson's first addition to the film series and the 8th canonical feature, excluding Rogue One. While the ladder may have had a much more thought-provoking plot and enriching characters, it's still Star Wars.

No matter what you say about it, the franchise has not only grown enormously, it's now gained a whole new multiplicity of possibilities for the overall scope, vision and direction of the story. What that means is that the best Star Wars quotes don't just end here, what with TV shows, video games, and more in the works, there's bound to be a vast system of quotable references still yet to come. For now, let's jump to light speed and read some of the best Star Wars quotes that are always relevant!

You don't have to be a fan to have heard it. Referenced in countless other movies and imbued with a stand-alone life all on its own, "It's a trap!" has evolved into one of the best Star Wars quotes seemingly out of nothing.

It's probably the most iconic phrase ever spoken from the Star Wars pathos, right up there next to the all-time greatest "No. I am your father." Admiral Ackbar's fit of intertwined realization and terror, spoken closer the end of Return of the Jedi, adds a subtle spark of pop culture to the story and will always make us hysterical whenever imitated.

"Never tell me the odds!" - Han Solo

Han Solo is known for his brash and, ironically, solo personal qualities, but no other saying given by actor Harrison Ford is as simultaneously snarky and humorous than this one.

It's also an important aspect in the relationship shared between C3PO and Han Solo. The droid's continuously irritating banter strikes a final nerve in the mind of our intergalactic smuggler, who in kind rebukes with one of the best Star Wars quotes: "Never tell me the odds!"

As a character, Qui-Gon (played by Liam Neeson) is among the few quality aspects of the prequels, even though he's only in Phantom Menace.

Delivering one of the best Star Wars quotes to a young Anakin Skywalker (also known as Darth Vader), the Jedi Master tries to relinquish some of his immense knowledge upon the boy, despite a deep-set fear that he is fated for darkness more so than the light. I guess we all know what little old Ani was focused on...

"Your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them." - Obi-Wan Kenobi

In one of Luke Skywalker's first lessons, using both lightsaber and the force to counter a droid's always-moving laser beam, Obi-Wan Kenobi gives us one of the best Star Wars quotes and one of his most insightful phrases.

Always wise, Obi-Wan has something to say for practically anything. Wisecrack or not, when he mentions the force, Obi's almost never wrong. Except with the whole Anakin becoming Vader thing, but that's neither here nor there.

Like the great Obi-Wan before him, Yoda also has a great many phrases of note that not only capture the essence of Star Wars, but holistically make up its inner heart.

As such, "Do, or do not. There is no try," has become one of the best Star Wars quotes of all time, and one of my favorite since my mother stressed it all throughout my time in high school. Who knew Yoda could get me through that awkward time, since it obviously did wonders for Luke.

"I find your lack of faith disturbing." - Darth Vader

Moments before force choking one of his fellow officers under the Empire, Vader delivers a scathing remark that actually has a deeper connotation for the entire theme of the story, most obvious of which is a retrospective concern for belief, even in the eyes of the film's main villain.

That's why it's one of the best Star Wars quotes, because what would Vader be like if he didn't find your lack of faith disturbing? Probably the same pissed off dude he's always been, to be honest.

"In my experience, there is no such thing as luck." - Obi-Wan Kenobi

Another expert line revealed by old Ben Kenobi, undoubtedly one of the best Star Wars quotes, luck as it were is nothing but a minuscule effect made by the Force, a form of power that he and the Jedi Order believe flows through the entirety of the cosmos.

Hence, the Force is the balance of all life, making luck all but obsolete in the eyes of a Jedi Master. So much for picking up a penny.

"Chewie, we're home." - Han Solo

One of the most satisfying moments in The Force Awakens is when Han and his furry friend re-enter the Millennium Falcon after nearly 40-plus years. Like the duo themselves, their infamous rust bucket is a key aspect of their characters and the series as a whole.

Fans now wonder if we'll see the famous Kessel Run in the upcoming and standalone Solo film, but honestly I just want to see how in the hell a pirate and a fur ball grow so close together. My money's on the ship.

“I’m one with the Force. The Force is with me.” - Chirrut Îmwe

Who are the Guardians of the Whills?Rogue One's Chirrut Îmwe was among them, the last few protectors of the kyber crystals, before joining a Rebel suicide mission to steal the Death Star plans.

Throughout the movie, despite never proving he could actually use it, Chirrut's repeated mantra comes as a satisfying phrase that has no sooner become one of the best Star Wars quotes ever coined.

"You can't stop the change, any more than you can stop the suns from setting." - Shmi Skywalker

Another reason why I love the Star Wars prequel trilogy, besides the fact that Revenge of the Sith is probably their best movie, is Shmi Skywalker's momentous portrayal of a young Darth Vader's mother.

Here, we have one of the best Star Wars quotes, one that delves into the Star Wars lore more than you might think: remember that dual sunset seen by Luke right before his journey begins in Episode IV? Huh, it's almost as if Shmi was warning little Ani of the inevitability of his own future, in addition to his son's!

Hope, of course, is one of the most prominent themes in A New Hope, but this ideal is carried throughout the film universe, from Attack of the Clones, to even The Last Jedi. In more ways than one, hope is another essential piece of the Force that which balances both good and evil.

This pleading statement made by Leia, which is archived in R2-D2's storage unit, drastically shaped the entire series and launched it into stardom. That, alone, makes it one of the best Star Wars quotes of all time.

“So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.” - Padmé Amidala

Overshadowed more so by the concluding fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin, Padmé's contemplative retort, as the Galactic Senate unknowingly plunges into the hands of the Empire, is one of the best Star Wars quotes for its political inventiveness.

Her comment is otherwise lost in the buildup of Anakin's fall from grace, but the quote is still meaningful when seen in the context of Star Wars history: without balance in the Force, there can be no order.

Delivering, with impeccable emotion, his distraught realization of Anakin's turn to the dark side, Obi-Wan screams: "You were the chosen one!" as lava plumes around him.

Being that it sets up one of the most bad ass lightsaber duels in the saga and highlights the final transformation of Anakin into Vader, this poignantly spoken line cuts so, so very deep into every fan that it still hurts to say how much it's one of the best Star Wars quotes of all time. Damn you, Ani!

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” - Yoda

"I sense great fear in you, young Skywalker," Yoda tells Anakin. For the Jedi, emotion in of itself is something that should be used less and less as one grows into the Force and becomes a Jedi Master. In telling Anakin of his own issues, Yoda also gave us one of the best Star Wars quotes.

Even with Yoda's advice, Anakin still eventually throws a massive pissy fit. It's okay, Yoda, it wasn't you. We all know Vader was just super salty about Padme and that whole village of Tusken raiders he slaughtered. Just wait until you meet Luke!
