Doctor Who Actors Feeling The Force In Star Wars

In a galaxy far far away you will find Gallifrey. Only joking.

Episode 1 of Star Wars in 1977 will always be remembered! Did you know just how many Doctor Who stars have crossed over to the George Lucas space opera, and vice versa? Here are some of the more notable actors and actresses who’ve made the leap.

Darth Vader

Lets start with one of the main noteable characters, Darth Vader. Dave Prowse was the man in the mask in the original Star Wars Trilogy. At first he played the Minotaur in 1972 in the Classic Who Story "The Time Monster".

David Tennant and Simon Pegg

You might be confused here by thinking "wait they haven't been in Star Wars have they?" Well yes they have. Tennant and Pegg both provided voices in the Star Wars animated Series The Clone Wars. Simon Pegg was the Editor in the 2005 Doctor Who Story "The Long Game". He then went on to provide the voice as the bounty hunter and fan favorite Dengar. Whereas David Tennant (Whovians 10th Doctor) portrayed the voice of Jedi architect droid Professor Huyang for just two episodes.

Jeremy Bulloch

Another well-loved bounty hunter, Fett was played by English actor Jeremy Bulloch in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (the actor also appeared sans mask in the former and Revenge of the Sith as different characters). Bulloch first appeared in Doctor Who in 1965’s The Space Museum and then again, more memorably, nine years later as Hal the Archer in The Time Warrior.

The Phantom Menace

The Phantom Menace has many Doctor Who actors jumping over universes. Legends Brian Blessed and Lindsay Duncan both provided their vocal talents (as Boss Nass and protocol droid TC-14 respectively) whilst Celia Imrie starred as the first female fighter pilot. Brian Blessed appeared in The Trial of a Time Lord. Whereas Lindsay Duncan appeared in the brilliant Doctor Who 2009 Special "The Waters of Mars". Very creepy and spooky episode indeed. Imrie guested alongside Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman in The Bells of St. John in Series 7 in 2013. Silas Carson gets FOUR roles in the film (two of them are amongst the first you see) – he has voiced squid-like alien the Ood in many episodes of Doctor Who.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Returning to Star Wars, having appeared in both the classic and prequel trilogies, is Warwick Davies, Warwick played the Emperor of the Universe in the episode, Nightmare In Silver in 2013 alongside Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman. We don’t know who she’s starring as in Episode VII, but actress Christina Chong has been in the Matt Smith episode A Good Man Goes To War as Lorna Bucket. Christina became a big part of Whovians as Lorna.

And that's it I'm afraid. Time to travel back to our world and go back to normal.
