News has broken that a Doctor Who Dalek operator and writer for the Doctor Who Magazine has been given the sack for coding an offensive message in his column in the latest edition of the popular magazine.

Nicholas Pegg, or "The Watcher" as he calls himself in the magazine, has been a Dalek actor since 2005, was given the sack when fans shared their findings on social media. Skillfully placing a letter at the start of every sentence in the column, spelt out the foul-mouthed phrase "Panini and Doctor Who Worldwide are c**ts."

The brutal coded message

At the end of the article, a sentence reads, "In a nutshell: If you look hard enough, there's always something hidden in plain sight." Obviously, that was the major clue to dig up the hidden message about Pegg's colleagues.

It currently remains unclear as to why Pegg made such a cruel comment about his colleagues. However, many Doctor Who fans believe Pegg was annoyed about a decision not to release a DVD of "Shada," which is an unaired serial of the long-running series. "Shada" should have aired between the years 1979 and 1980.

Following his offensive outburst in his column, it has been confirmed that Pegg will not be playing a Dalek in the upcoming season of the science fiction show. Speaking to The Mirror, BBC Worldwide confirmed Pegg's dismissal by saying:

"The matter was raised with the publisher who have dismissed the writer."

While Pegg has been sacked, this also confirms that the Doctor Who's first ever female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, will come face-to-face with her deadliest enemy possible — The Daleks!

Even though Pegg has been given the sack, this doesn't stop new incoming showrunner, Chris Chibnall from ITV's Broadchurch, from planning a deadly attack on the Time Lord from Gallifrey.

It may not seem it, however, playing a Dalek can become very difficult on several occasions. A Dalek is operated by sitting an actor inside the Dalek shell and operating their exterminator and sucker weapons, as well as controlling the flashing lights to symbolise when the Dalek is talking. But, a different actor provides the voice for the spooky villains from Skaro.

When Doctor Who was revived over a decade ago, the Daleks have played a vital part in the gripping BBC series. The Daleks have appeared in every season to date, excluding Season 6 and Season 10, where there was just a glimpse of them.

On the other hand, the scary moving machines have been used as part of the big season finale on a number occasions. Back in 2005, they were heavily used in the finale, where they intruded on a space station wiping everyone out that stood in their way.

Then in Season 2, they were used again for the finale, where they battled the Cybermen, which lead to the tragic departure of Rose Tyler. Even though they were used in Season 3, they weren't the centre of attention in the grand finale. However, when Season 4 came along, the Daleks stormed back onto our screens where the Tenth Doctor was reunited with all his companions to put a stop to the Daleks and their creator, Davros.

As time progressed on, the Daleks continuously kept on showing up, including the multi-coloured Daleks, who caused a lot of controversies. In 2013, the Daleks made a huge comeback for the 50th anniversary special, "The Day of the Doctor," where the story of the The Great Time War was explained in fantastic detail.

Even though the Daleks make you want to hide behind your sofa, they still remain the favourite villain to many hardcore Doctor Who fans. The Doctor's greatest enemy is expected to make an epic comeback in Season 11, which airs in the autumn in 2018.
