It's been said that 'Dark Water' is Doctor Who's most complained Episode of New Who so far. The opening part of the Series 8 two-part finale in 2014 showed Danny Pink (Samuel Anderson) being killed in a car accident. The story later revealed that the dead are able to feel their bodies being cremated.

'Dark Water' had received over 100 complaints. The BBC have defended these complaints by saying 'it's “appropriate” in the context of the show'. The Episode saw dead bodies being upgraded into Cybermen. The show on the Saturday night had 5 Million viewers and out of that 118 people ended up complaining as they were feeling uncomfortable.

Ofcom revealed it received 9 complaints about Saturday's Doctor Who. "We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate," it said in a statement. However, the BBC defended the episode’s dark themes and actor Peter Capaldi has stated previously that he wanted Doctor Who to take on a darker edge.

The scene in which a character reveals 3W's unconventional theory about the afterlife was preceded by Missy (Michelle Gomez) warning the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) several times that what they were about to hear could be distressing.

The Finale came to close as expected the following Saturday. Nothing serious happened about these complaints.
