With Series 9 getting closer and closer by the day, the Doctor Who team have revealed that there are currently 2 stories that have 2 episodes to them. The team have also revealed the titles to them. We learned the titles to the first 2 Christmas Day 2014 and later on in January/ early February. But today (30th March 2015) the titles to Episodes 5&6 have been revealed. Let's break down what we know about these Episodes.

Episode 1: "The Magician's Apprentice"
Episode 2: "The Witches Familiar"

Series 8 came to a close in November 2014. What a stunner it was. The conclusion to "Death in Heaven" saw Nick Frost taking up the role of Santa Claus walking in the TARDIS. This led into the Christmas Special "Last Christmas". As the amazing Christmas Special came to a close, we were given a quick little message on screen. "The Doctor and Clara will return next year in The Magician's Apprentice". The Whovians of the world went crazy when they saw this as we saw that Clara was returning. People have mixed opinions on her returning. But enough of that. As 2015 came along we discovered the title to the 2nd half of this story. The title is "The Witches Familiar"? I instantly thought the Carrionites from Series 3. That is where I was wrong. Moffat then later on confirmed the return of the Doctor's nemesis, The Master!

Last Series we learned that Michelle Gomez who played Missy was actually the Master! Yes we have a change in gender. In "Death in Heaven" we all thought that she had been killed by a Cyberman. We were wrong there when we were told she was returning in the Series 9 opener! Jemma Redgrave is also set to return in the Series 9 opener as well. That is all we know so far about these 2 episodes.

The Message After The Xmas Special 2014

Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect. - Steven Moffat

Episode 5: "The Girl Who Died"
Episode 6: "The Woman Who Lived"

As of 30th March 2015, it was announced that the titles to Episode 5 and 6 were a 2 part story. These titles are; "The Girl Who Died" and "The Woman Who Lived". What springs to mind here? Does the girl die then regenerate and turn into a woman like what River Song did? We practically know nothing about these Episodes yet. Apart from this, Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams will be joining the Doctor and Clara in this story. We don't know what enemy the Doctor is up against yet either. We shall have to wait and see! Eeek!

On her first day on set Maisie Williams said;

“I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.” - Maisie Williams

Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, added,

“We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.” - Steven Moffat

I personally enjoy these 2 part stories. I think it makes the stories more enjoyable and exciting as Moffat can leave the 1st half on a cliffhanger. This leaves us excited for the next episode a week later. Will there be more Series 9 two part stories to come? Well we shall have to wait and see and hope for the best!
