'Doctor Who': We Could See Kris Marshall Inside the TARDIS After All
There's room for new showrunner, Chris Chibnall, to cast the Doctor's very first assistant.
He may have been the top candidate to replace Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who this year, but that idea was shot down when Jodie Whittaker was revealed as the Thirteenth Doctor. However, with Whittaker being the new Time Lord, we may see Kris Marshall enter the TARDIS after all.
The former Death In Paradise actor is now in talks to replace Pearl Mackie as the companion to the Doctor. Mackie departed the show this year in the Season 10 finale, meaning there's room for new showrunner, Chris Chibnall, to cast the Doctor's very first assistant.
Leaving 'Death In Paradise' for 'Doctor Who'?
It was announced to the public in February that Kris Marshall will be leaving the #BBC series Death In Paradise, which then lead to media sources believing he was going to audition for #DoctorWho. However, the real reason he left was to spend time with his family. Obviously, media sources chose to line him up for the iconic role. An unnamed source spoke to The Sun, saying:
“Kris is a big fan of the show and the BBC are a big fan of his.”
With Marshall now being favored to become the new companion to stand alongside Whittaker, a BBC spokeswoman has announced that casting the new companion is yet to be decided.
It is currently unknown if comedian Matt Lucas will be returning for Season 11 as Nardole, or if we'll have a complete new lineup inside the TARDIS by next year.
