Exploring the Second Insight

The Celestine Prophecy, by James Redfield is a riveting adventure novel that uses the tale of one man's adventure through the virgin forests and ancient ruins of Peru in search of an ancient manuscript, which details an impending mass spiritual awakening on Earth. Not only does this manuscript predict a mass spiritual awakening, but it also lists the sequence in which it will happen at the individual level. The concepts of the insights cannot be grasped until the previous insight is fully understood... and the sequence is essential. Upon learning each Insight, you get a glimpse of a plethora of information that it seems you have suppressed some place deep in your soul, and the resonance of the knowledge comes flowing into you like ancient memories. The mystery of the Universe feels like less of a mystery and the steps forward seem refreshingly clear.

This novel provides prime situations and examples to outline the concepts of this philosophy, making it effortless and enlightening to grasp. This way of life recognizes the Universe itself as conscious energy that breathes life into all that is entailed within it. Not only is it conscious, it is effected by and responsive to our intentions. If, on a molecular level, quantum physics tells us that the Observer Effect proves that the results of experiments are directly effected by the intended outcome of the observer, then at what point do we question our energetic influence beyond the molecular level? Grasping these insights has shaken up much that was sleeping within me, and I would be thrilled to do my part in sharing this knowledge with any and all who will also resonate with it.

What is the second insight?

The concept of the second insight is to view our evolution in a different way. So often, we classify the progress of our evolution by our technological advancements; but what if we study the evolution of our collective consciousness? To do this, we must put ourselves in the perspectives of our ancestors passed, and imagine what it would have felt like to experience these times. How have their beliefs and ways of life evolved over humanity’s time here? For the sake of this article we will go back to the year 1000.

The Middle Ages

These times were known as the "Middle Ages," and during this time the collective consciousness was sharply focused on organized religion, namely the Christian religion. During these times, the masses trusted their church officials with, quite literally, their eternal salvation. They were programmed to trust and believe that these officials had their best interests at heart and that if they didn't follow their interpreted rules exactly, they would face an eternity of damnation. These church officials were the peoples' only way to study the scriptures, as the interpretations of these words were decided by the Church itself and were not up for reinterpretations by the general public. It was the belief that absolutely every event that took place was directly at the hands of either "God" or "The Devil." There were no scientific explanations for natural disasters or the cycles of life and the leaders of this society were not interested in providing themselves or others with any. So what changed?

The Rise of the Modern Age

This society, dependent on organized religion, thrived until the general public became aware of the many inconsistencies coming from the church. They noticed that not all church officials were subject to the same harsh rules as the people who so faithfully followed the church. They began to question the necessity of all of these rules, and the interpretation of the scriptures they had so blindly followed for so long. This would eventually lead to a full rebellion of the church and a movement by the people to control their own interpretations of the holy scriptures. By the 14th and 15th centuries this programming was already breaking down as people began to question the scientific nature of things. What really is behind hurricanes or thunderstorms or the seasons? Is there a scientific explanation that can explain the nature of these things or was it really just God and The Devil pulling all of the strings?

At this point humanity pulled together all of its greatest critical thinkers and scientists to go out and discover the true nature of the Universe, with hard evidence to prove it. By the 1600s it was known that we are, in fact, not the center of our solar system or the stars, and that we revolve around them as opposed to all heavenly bodies revolving around the earth. This rocked the belief systems of the people and ignited an obsession that would span centuries ahead. When we were unable to provide a clear answer for why we are alive here or what the purpose of life is, we threw our focus into evolving the way we survive here. This time would be an absolutely essential step in our evolution as we were able to discover technologies that provide us with travel, medical healing, energy distribution, mass food production and so much more. We would continue obsessing over the advancement of these technologies until we became preoccupied with it. We would eventually forget our original question... Why are we alive here?

Now

As we entered this new millennium, the general public began waking up yet again to this original question. Many of us are beginning to realize our engrossment in technology and our alienation from our spiritual nature. We began the last millennium out of balance, too much spiritualism without enough science to guide our interpretations; in effect we've countered that and entered this new millennium out of balance, too much science and not enough spiritualism. It is inevitable, at this point in our awareness, that we begin to search for the middle ground. We've taught ourselves how to survive on this planet, in some cases quite lavishly. Now we must reteach ourselves how to reconnect with our planet, with our nature. We can find that science doesn't lead us away from our spirituality, but right back to it with better understanding. Everything humanity has gone through up until now, has prepared us for our next step in this evolution. We will eventually find that the beauty of nature and the knowledge of our current, even future technologies can coexist without destruction. It is now up to us to find this middle ground and restore the balance humanity has unconsciously been working towards all of this time.

In conclusion, the second insight asks you to look at the bigger picture of events passed. How did these events change the outlooks of the collective? How have our habits and beliefs evolved with the revelations we've received over time? Can you see how the consciousness of humanity is evolving even now? This is what the second insight is about, recognizing that all of humanities history has indeed been essential in the evolution of our consciousness.
