For decades we've held onto the sentiment that the Force would always be with us. Well it seems like that may not quite be the true reality of life. I know, I know, major sad emojis right? Well, have faith because there is still hope.

Being a Jedi has been the dream of nearly every young boy or girl who ever watched Anakin, Luke or Rei learn that they were destined to bring balance to the universe. The Force was strong with them, and it's easy to understand the draw of the Force in the universe. It seems thought, that Great Britain has determined that following the Jedi path isn't a legitimate religion.

The fact of the matter is that recently, The Temple of the Jedi Order has faced opposition from Britain's Charity Commission which is the organization that denotes whether official religious recognition is granted to various groups. At over 175,000 members, The Temple of the Jedi Order applied for official religious recognition in early December. And with the popularity of the first Star Wars anthology film Rogue One, it makes sense that believed of the Force would want to have their beliefs seen as recognized by the government.

Being recognized as an official religious organization would have allowed the Temple to become eligible for tax breaks, a non-profit status and several other perks that come with the religious designation. The group of devoted Jedi applied to Britain's Charity Commission for England and Wales in the hope that they could further the charity work that they already do in the hope that peace can become a worldview rather than simple just a pipe dream.

So What's Next For The Jedi Order?

The Temple of the Jedi Order can, and will, reapply to the Charity Commission and the leader of the Church of Jediism, Daniel Jones, believes that in the next 5 years they will earn an official religious status in the UK.

That's great news for the UK, and if you're ready to take the next step in your faith you can begin your journey into becoming a Jedi.

Here's What You Need To Know

The Temple of the Jedi Order has a fairly well thought out belief system and it goes as follows.

  • We The Temple of the Jedi Order believe:
  • In the Force, and in the inherent worth of all life within it.
  • In the sanctity of the human person. We oppose the use of torture and cruel or unusual punishment, including the death penalty.
  • In a society governed by laws grounded in reason and compassion, not in fear or prejudice.
  • In a society that does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or circumstances of birth such as gender, ethnicity and national origin.
  • In the ethic of reciprocity, and how moral concepts are not absolute but vary by culture, religion, and over time.
  • In the positive influence of spiritual growth and awareness on society.
  • In the importance of freedom of conscience and self-determination within religious, political and other structures.
  • In the separation of religion and government and the freedoms of speech, association, and expression.

If you believe all the statements above then you may be ready to join the Jedi Order, and if you live in the United States you can join the American Temple which is currently recognized by the IRS and a Ministry and Public Charity. Head over to their official site to learn how you to can become an official Jedi Knight.
