New Love Interest for Cami on "The Originals" Season 3

Is love in the air? Teasers suggest so, and this season looks like it'll heat up!

During the course of The Originals one of the biggest questions of the show has been whether or not Cami would end up with the hybrid and resident trouble-maker, Klaus. One thing that was added into the mix during season 3 premiere, however, was a new human in town in Detective Will Kinney.

When TV Line sat down with actor Jason Dohring, who plays the new character, had plenty to say about the detective and where he stands on the show. While many of the characters that come on the show have some knowledge of the supernatural, his character is coming in blind, only having suspicions that something is going on underground in the city of New Orleans.

"He’s smart, confident [and] wants to find out what’s going on after he discovers this serial string of murders. In the future episodes, he winds up getting more pulled into the supernatural world. He’s determined to figure it out, so he winds up in this terrifying situation."

When speaking of the dynamic between his character and Cami, Jason had plenty to say, with both a working and intimate relationship:

"It seems like it could be straight-by-the-book — help and a romance sort of thing. But there is this aspect of when you’re trying to figure out something and you’re not being told the full truth by that [other] person. There’s that aspect where she doesn’t want me to find out too much. She wants to help mostly for herself to figure out what is going on. I have clues, I have the conventional data that’s being gathered and stuff like that, and she has the bulk of the behind-the-scenes. [We’re] working together, but neither one maybe wants to give away all their cards."

He also knows that Klaus has an interest in her, and that that might factor into how long his mortality lasts on the show. Knowing the hybrid's temper, it is safe to say that he will have to constantly be looking over his shoulder.

Leah Pipes has always been a strong supporter for the relationship between Klaus and Cami, known by fans as Klamille. In a recent interview, she had nothing but good words about it stating that:

"I don't think it's your typical straight romance, that's what makes it so great."

With Cami consistently saying, so far, that she wants to distance herself from Klaus and just keep their relationship professional, maybe there is a chance for a normal, strong human man to step up and find a place in her heart.

"There’s certainly an attraction. He respects her right from the start… She’s smart and she’s not one to be messed with. They’re both good people and they connect."

Only time will tell how this plays out, but it looks like Cami may have a lot of trouble on her hands trying to keep up with these boys. Here's hoping Will stays alive long enough for us to enjoy how this could really play out. Though it definitely looks like the actors have fun together!
