Project Blue Book

No Longer a Secret

Project Blue Book started with the Roswell UFO crash of 1947. What the extraterrestrials are doing is studying us as they have watched over us for billions of years, since life began on this planet and went through many evolutionary changes. Project Blue Book has some heavy documentation on various sightings from 1947-1969. Thousands of UFO sightings were reported, and other projects had been undertaken such as Sign in 1947, and Grudge (1949). Project Blue Book was used to determine whether UFOs are a threat to national security, and to analyze scientific data collected on them.

Project Blue Book set a record by collecting 12,618 UFO reports but scientifically debunked the sightings as misattributions of natural phenomena such as clouds or stars. Sometimes, a small percentage of UFOs were classed as unexplained. These tools are of use to UFO researchers who want to go into more detail.

As far as my personal experience goes, I have seen UFOs, which is what got me interested in this subject to begin with. Project Sign felt that UFOs were not made by the US or the Soviets, and they decided these objects were extraterrestrial in origin.

Project Grudge mistakenly thought that UFOs are all natural in origin. The name “Project Blue Book,” was inspired by colleges and universities’ use of the blue book for tests, serving as a reminder that the UFO phenomenon was supposed to be studied scientifically. Captain Edward J. Ruppelt was the first leader of the project but left the Air Force and wrote The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects, since he actually coined the acronym UFO. He was the one who felt that civilian UFO groups needed to be under surveillance. Eventually, this group had a goal of debunking sightings despite evidence to the contrary.

The entire government program on the study of UFOs was officially terminated in 1969. The project kept track of total sightings and seemingly, the ones that were identified. The government has steadily maintained an on-again, off-again stance on the UFO projects it has going, as universities and private organizations pick up the slack. In the present, there is more being revealed on the UFO situation at large. NASA is releasing information on its UFO sightings and has been doing that since 2012. There is evidence that sightings have happened during Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab.

Jim McDivitt claims he saw something while in the cockpit that he couldn’t identify. It looked like a white, cylindrical shape with a white pole sticking out of one corner. He found cameras so he could take a picture of it. However, the two films he used didn’t come out right. So it would seem that NASA and the government are no longer keeping this subject secret or spending their lives debunking. The crew of the space shuttle Columbia attempted to deploy a satellite attached to a 12-mile long cable or tether during their 1996 mission. STS-75 saw circular objects floating behind the broken tether they attempted to deploy. A crewmember experimented with recreating the tether, coming up with the explanation that the circular objects were particles. But when the SETI program is finding more Earth-like planets, there is an increase in the likelihood that they will eventually find other humanoids on other planets. The Hubble Telescope’s results are proof that there are many other galaxies out there.

In conclusion, the military and NASA is less into covering up the subject of UFOs because compared to the 1990s, it is almost socially acceptable to talk about. They will keep coming as they are keeping an eye on us Earthlings. They are trying to protect us because they know we have progressed with building atomic bombs. This is why they are carefully studying what we do next. Sometimes, when civilizations elsewhere get to this point, they destroy themselves. We have to prove we won’t before they take us seriously.
