With reboots and prequels happening to favorite TV shows and movie franchise, it’s nice to see original movies coming out on the big screen, and it’s even better when the movie is filled with action, suspense, and great characters. This is what Gunpowder & Sky’s sci-fi label Dust introduced to attendees at Los Angeles Comic Con this past weekend (October 26 to October 28, 2018) with their futuristic film Prospect.

Dust

Gunpowder & Sky’s upcoming label Dust may be new, but this label is gaining attention fast and their new feature film Prospect coming out November 2 in Los Angeles and New York (November 9, 2018 Nationwide) will surely put Dust as a household name for go-to movies and features (take a look at what’s under the label right now).

In theaters November 2, 2018, check out the official trailer for Prospect.

Prospect

Prospect stars newcomer Sophie Thatcher (2016's The Exorcist), Jay Duplass (Transparent), and Pedro Pascal (Narcos and upcoming Wonder Woman 1984)—and directed by filmmakers Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell.

Not to leak any spoilers prior to the film's release:

Prospect takes place in the future and follows single dad Damon (Duplass) and his teen daughter Cee (Thatcher) as they make a pit stop on a green moon planet to harvest a hidden gem. They soon find themselves stranded, and thinking their financial problems are solved with the gem, they encounter gem seeker Ezra (Pascal) and his partner.

Cee finds herself having to survive and try to find her way off the moon planet by teaming up with Ezra as they embark on a journey where trust and working together is the only way to help save each other.

My Review and Take

Prior to attending Los Angeles Comic Con, I had watched the screening of Prospect (thank you Dust) and have to say that I give this film a 10 out of 10! The movie in-itself was an original and kept me watching since Sophie Thatcher came on screen. I applaud the great acting from all the actors, but Thatcher delivered, and the chemistry between her and Pedro Pascal was on point, had me rooting for the two.

Filmmakers Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell, as well as actors Sophie Thatcher and Jay Duplass, were present at the Los Angeles Comic Con panel where they presented Prospect and shared their intake of filming and behind the scene outtakes in creating Prospect and bringing the characters to life.

Sophie Thatcher shines with her portrayal of Cee and is outstanding. She has a similar presence of Cara Delevingne and Melissa Joan Hart mixed into one—and yes, that's a good thing.

Pedro Pascal transitions into the guy you hate, but love at the end with his mannerism.

If you’re a fan of futuristic films, Prospect is truly an original film that you won’t want to miss! The time setting and background gave it a Star Wars clash with Space: Above and Beyond for this generation to enjoy!
