“Don’t get excited!”

In the midst of their flirtatious quarreling in The Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo fires this line at Princess Leia — but honestly, we’re finding it very hard to take his advice right now. On the 20th February, Lucasfilm officially announced that principal photography had begun on the still untitled Han Solo origin movie.

And, just to make sure that we know they mean business, they have released their first photo of the cast via StarWars.com!

Returning to that galaxy far far away, the Han Solo movie is set to explore the StarWars universe prior to the events of A New Hope, in the formative days of Han Solo’s smuggling career. Meeting up with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, the film will reportedly see Solo going up against his old mentor, and acquiring his legendary vessel, the Millennium Falcon.

Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are co-piloting the picture, with AldenEhrenreich taking over from Harisson Ford as Han Solo. Childish Gambino himself, #DonaldGlover, is going to be the gambler and swindler Lando Calrissian, and Joonas Suotamo will wear the furry Chewbacca-suit once again, as he did for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Check them out in the official image below!

Joining Ehrenreich is #WoodyHarrelson as Solo’s mentor Garris Shrike and EmiliaClarke of Game of Thrones fame in an unknown role. Here we can see them on the infamous bridge of the Millennium Falcon, which is most certainly at the movie’s production base at Pinewood Studios, London.

The accompanying report on StarWars.com confirms that Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Westworld alumni Thandie Newton have officially joined the cast — talk about a British invasion!

As is the case with Emilia Clarke, there’s no official word on whom either of these two talents are playing, but rumor has it that Waller-Bridge is going to be a CGI character similar to Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o )in The Force Awakens, or a female droid similar to C-3PO.

The question we're all asking right now! [Credit: Lucasfilm]

On the other hand, it’s been speculated that Newton has been recruited as Sana Starros — none other than Han Solo’s wife! If that isn’t enough to get your hyperdrive running, Miller and Lord had this to say about their capable crew:

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous...We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”

With the Millenium Falcon already bursting with fresh faces, new characters and potential aplenty, it’s very doubtful that Han, or any Star Wars fan is going to fly casually anytime soon! I’m just going to quote the man himself to sum up how I am currently:

“Sorry about the mess.”
