The morning sun shone through the satin curtains, a figure lurked in the corner behind the door.

"How are you not burning up?" barked Harold's older half brother as he stayed as close to the wall as possible.

"I have human blood remember?" Harold reminded Ezra.

"Well, make me walk in the sun," whined Ezra.

"I have things to do," answered Harold coldly as he got up from his bed and went up to the curtain.

"Don't you dare open that curtain!" shouted Ezra.

"Look, I will talk to my witch friend and see what I can do for you. Okay?" asked Harold and Ezra eagerly nodded. "Although, I do like the fact that I have more power than you right now," drawled Harold with a smirk across his face.

"Also, your house is haunted or something, I can't do my vampire things," Ezra said.

"Of course you can't, I had a witch hex it." Harold then closed the blinds tighter and then went to the ensuite bathroom and took a long, deep shower. Even though he felt stronger against his half brother currently, he knew that would not last long. Ezra was not someone you can trust automatically, he was unpredictable and that's what made him dangerous. At least he still had his hellhounds and if Ezra tried anything funny while he was gone, then they would attack and possibly kill him. Hellhounds were great that way, they are much like werewolves, if bitten it will cause a painful, sudden death. But unlike werewolves, there was no cure, they were called hellhounds for a reason, death by a hellhound was like hell. Harold got dressed and when he got in the room Ezra made himself comfortable on Harold's bed.

"So where are we going?" asked Ezra.

"We are going nowhere. You are staying put, so I can get you your daylight ring or bracelet or whatever," answered Harold.

"I prefer necklaces," said Ezra and he dove into his shirt and pulled out his court necklace, which held the symbol of the white vampire court. It was a sun with a dagger going through the center of the sun. Ezra never took it off. Ezra then took it off from his neck and Harold hesitated and then snatched it from his hand.

"Swear to god, I am going to regret this," Harold moaned out loud.

"Remember, I am keeping you safe little brother," said Ezra.

"Okay, well, I am going to see my friend and my hellhounds will bite if you try to leave. I have some blood in the fridge downstairs, So if you are thirsty, there you go," said Harold and he stepped out of his room. Harold went into his own kitchen and pulled out his vile, he drank a sip and it burned as it went down his throat, he then tucked the rest away in his jacket pocket. He was not going far, but precautions had to be made. He left his house and went down a few blocks and around the corner; where a little pub called "The Rampant Cleaver" was under an apartment building. Not many knew about it, it was hidden and it was a good thing too. It was a pub where the underworld creatures hung out to be uninterrupted. Humans did not notice it, mostly because it looked abandoned on the outside, it was of course a witch's spell that made it look that way. However, to underworld creatures, it looked quaint and had green trim on the outside. Harold walked in, the bar was nearly empty except for the common regulars, that did not bother looking his way.

"Harold, long time no see. C'mon, have a drink," said Sabrina the bartender. Sabrina had short, curly, purple hair, her olive skin was decorated with tattoos. Her lips were painted purple to match her hair, she had a pierced eyebrow and spider bite lip piercing, her body was petite and her shirt showed a little belly with her belly piercing.

"I will have a-"

"Whiskey," she said finishing his sentence as Harold sat down. She then started to make his drink.

"I have an issue," said Harold quietly.

"What's that?" she asked.

"My brother is in town," said Harold slowly and Sabrina slid Harold's drink across the bar as her mouth formed an "o". "I need a favour," he continued and he slid a twenty across, she looked around and tucked it in her pocket.

"What's that?" Sabrina asked as she leaned in closer, she was close enough that he could smell her minty breath.

"I need you to make this into a daylight necklace," he said as he held out the necklace that Ezra gave him. She took it in her hand and looked at it.

"This is a white court-""Shh!" hissed Harold and she got the message.

"An extra fifty," she told Harold.

"What? when did you raise that?" Harold asked Sabrina.

"There's lately been a shortage of the ingredients I need," she said as she took the necklace into her back pocket. Harold passed a hundred dollar bill.

"You need it now, don't you?" asked Sabrina and Harold nodded. "Take over for me, will ya?" she said, inviting him behind the bar. This happened often, Harold sometimes made some extra cash watching over Sabrina's bar. Sabrina closed the door to her office and Harold could hear her chanting. She brought back the necklace.

"There you go," she said and Harold slipped it back into his pocket. He drank a little of his drink and talked to Sabrina a bit more before leaving. He got back to his house and he saw Ezra lying on the floor.

"What are you doing?" asked Harold as he noticed the curtain open and the sun was close to burning his leg. Harold ran over and shut it closed.

"Waiting for you to get back," said Ezra.

"So I imagine you don't want this..." said Harold as he dangled it over Ezra and he sat upright and put it around his neck. "Let's test shall we?" asked Harold and he threw the curtain open and Ezra from reflex jumped out of the sun's rays. Ezra then slowly put his hand into the sun and nothing happened, he extended his arm and still no effect from the sun. Harold then pushed him into the sun light and Ezra smiled.

"So this is what it's like to see the sun," said Ezra with a wide smirk.
