Star Wars is a science fiction franchise set in a universe far far away.
Star Wars: 10 Lines Worse Than ‘I Don’t Like Sand’
How It All Began Hayden Christensen uncomfortably uttered the line, ‘I don’t like sand,’ the world cringed collectively. It has since spawned memes, songs, and t-shirts, but is it really the worst line in the saga?
Culture SlatePublished 2 years ago in FuturismTop 15 Ships In The Star Wars Universe
To say there is a myriad of ships in the Star Wars universe is accurate but also, somehow, an extreme understatement. The expanse and variety of ships are tremendous. However, if you include ships now a part of Legends, the type illustrates incredible creativity that has been consistent throughout the history of Star Wars media. In this list, I will attempt to narrow down that expanse a bit to some examples of truly extraordinary, impactful design. To do this, we will narrow them down into three categories and an additional “curious case” category.
Culture SlatePublished 2 years ago in FuturismEvery Stormtrooper Variant And Their Role In The Empire (Part 2)
Imperial Heavy Troopers Imperial heavy troopers do get their own spot on the list because they actually have some major differences from the other heavy trooper variants despite the fact that there is little info on them. They wear bulkier armor than other heavy troopers, and they are typically armed with electrostaffs. The bulkier armor seems to suggest that it would provide more protection and allow them to hit harder. Their melee focus also seems to suggest that they typically fight in close proximities. However, that is all speculation as there is no information that can confirm or deny this. Still, they are a unique part of the Empire.
Culture SlatePublished 2 years ago in FuturismEvery Stormtrooper Variant And Their Role In The Empire (Part 1)
Stormtroopers are some of the most iconic soldiers in pop culture. Variants of stormtroopers have appeared in almost every Star Wars film to date. Their design is immediately recognizable. They are the primary military force for the Empire, and they are supposed to be the most elite soldiers in the galaxy. Each stormtrooper has a role in the Empire as well. There are dozens of stormtrooper variants with their own special skills and jobs, and every variant plays a part in the massive Galactic Empire.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, in my opinion, is in a category of its own making. It is a favorite of mine due to its unique direction and refreshing ideas away from the heavy-hitting events of the main storyline, much like how the future project titled The Acolyte could be. I think the origin of Han was done well and I wish we would get to see Alden Ehrenreich play the smuggler again (we won't, however, as Lucasfilm just announced this week that they are straying away from recasting iconic characters). That is not who I am here to talk about. The question that has been on my mind since I first saw Solo has always been "When will we see Qi'ra again?"

Of all of the dozens of Star Wars games to come out in the last thirty years, probably none is as beloved as Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). With its innovative combat system, rich atmosphere, complex story, and some of the best video game characters of all time, KOTOR is widely seen as the best Star Wars game, and one of the best video games of all time. So, when the remake was announced in September 2021 at the Sony PlayStation showcase, there was immediate fan hype. KOTOR with the latest hardware and graphics? The iconic story retold in a manner where there are basically no restrictions on gameplay and looks? Awesome! The fact that we only got a short teaser with absolutely no details on the game itself only amplified the excitement.

Edward Dodds is the editor and contributor to Star Wars: Supernatural Encounters by Joe Bongiorno and contributor to Unauthorized Offworld Activation: Exploring the Stargate Franchise, edited by Rich Handley and Joseph Dilworth Jr. While Edward Dodds might not be a household name for most Stargate or Star Wars fans, his contributions to the more obscure parts of both franchises is noteworthy. I recently interviewed Dodds about his love of science fiction, more specifically two franchises that are similar in many respects, but quite different in others: Stargate and Star Wars. His immense knowledge of these two franchises is impressive, and it had been a joy to pick his brain.
