The Best 'Star Trek' Gifts

Boldly go where no gift-giver has gone before.

Beam some amazing gifts under your Christmas tree and impress the Trekkies in your life. Old, young, fans of the original series or devoted followers of the new one, it doesn’t matter - everyone will find something to love on this list (unless they don’t like Star Trek, in which case, why are you getting them a present again?). Give the holidays all you’ve got and remember to gift long and prosper.

Select a set of six vintage spaceship patent prints or canvases for the Star Trek fan and art lover on your list. This set from the Etsy seller Ultraprint comes with either a black or a blue background - you choose - and makes a huge statement in your living room, office, or game room. Reviewers rave about the superb print quality.

I absolutely love toile, but you expect to see tiny shepherdesses and prancing lambs on something like this, not Spock, Kirk, and the Enterprise. To the casual observer, it will look like an average throw pillow, but for those observant enough to take a closer look, this pillow’s awesome secrets will be revealed. As the Etsy seller Craft Encounters says, “Fool everyone into thinking you've finally grown up! From far away it looks like a nice, pretty pillow, but up close, you'll see you're still letting your nerd flag fly.”

Ok, but how awesome is this? I just love that someone’s mind works like this. I think I would just be Mr. Rogers-ing all over town zipping my hoodie up and down to show everyone that I met. How to win friends and influence people, Star Trek style. Amiright?? Each one of these is uniquely hand-painted and as you can see, they’re on SALE, so you really have no choice but to get one of these for yourself, and maybe a friend. (This is the problem with trying to get someone an amazing Star Trek gift...in the end, you just want everything for yourself too.)

Don’t hesitate to show off your geeky love of all things Star Trek at even the most formal events you attend. In brass or sterling silver with a 20” chain to match, this Klingon necklace has a detailed cutout that reads warrior, or Suvwl', in pIqaD, the written Klingon Language. It’s handmade in Auberg Designs’ studio with sheet brass or sterling silver using a handheld jeweler’s saw and is coated with a protective finish that subtly shines. The same artist makes a “Qapla” (success) necklace if you prefer a different message.

I have to admit that I did a double take and read this again several times, because I thought that I was just seeing it backward. I know Spock is supposed to be the sensible, practical, emotionless one, and Kirk is the attractive, fun, risk-taking daredevil, but...Zachary Quinto just makes me FEEL things, ok? Ok. Perhaps you feel differently and this shirt perfectly describes your ideal man. Proclaim it to the world in a comfortable cotton t-shirt that would look even better on Spock’s bedroom floor. I mean Kirk’s. (No I don’t.)

What time is it? Time to watch Star Trek, obviously. This clock is made from a real vinyl record and keeps time perfectly. I love the details on this, and I especially love that Uhura is included. She is such a timeless, awesome symbol of a powerful woman and here she is looking amazing right around 4:00.

Your fridge...the final frontier. I was definitely always one of those people standing around at parties doing magnetic poetry in the kitchen instead of mingling/flirting/whatever those humans were successfully doing in the other room. Here you get 500 magnets based off the new Star Trek films. The Etsy seller, Logophiles Anonymous, claims that these are “laminated to safeguard from any Romulans that may lurk around your fridge or locker.” Now that is a great feature.

Would you like to be my best friend? Give me half of this awesome friendship/couples necklace and I’m pretty sure that can be arranged. It’s also available as a keychain (which is probably a manlier way to say “You’re the Spock to my Kirk). Etsy seller Namecoins says, “Notice that this is cut on a 1966 year quarter when the original series first aired of course. Trekker couples unite!!!” You can choose your own chain length and width so it’s just right for you and your bestie.

Perfect for your positronic subprocessor, or, you know, a Kindle, iPad, or other tablet (if you’re boring like that). It’s made of soft, brushed cotton canvas and closes with a wooden button so you can keep your electronics safe. You can get the natural case with black print as pictured or a black case with white print. Either way, it’ll remind you of your favorite starship crew every time you get out your device.

Ok, I know this is for like, toddlers. But would it really be so embarrassing if I made this and then brought it along to the DMV, or the grocery store checkout line, or other boring places? What? What’s that? I’m sorry, I can’t hear you, I’m making Picard human again. La la LAAA. (Please go click on this one to see more pictures because it is totally incredible.)

When I first glanced at this I thought that it was a nativity set, and then I had so many questions. But it’s not! Just adorable peg dolls (which really make it so glaringly obvious that strong female characters were underrepresented here) which can walk about on your desk at work and have entertaining conversations with each other. Oh, YOU thought they were intended for children. Yes, well, I suppose that’s true. Excellent point. I’ll make sure to purchase a second set for my kids, because these are MINE.
