The 'Unexplained Mysteries' Podcast
This podcast does not take "we don't know" for an answer.
The Unexplained Mysteries podcast is a weekly podcast devoted to answering the questions of some of the most intriguing mysteries of our time. The series' stories range from ancient times to the modern era—everything from UFOs, vampires, The Bermuda Triangle, and other related phenomena. However, the series does investigate other topics other than the paranormal; archeology and medical science mysteries are discussed as well, while some shows are devoted to missing persons and unexplained deaths.
The show is a production of the Parcast Network which is owned by Cutter Media. The hosts are Molly Brandenburg and Richard Rosner. Each episode lasts 45 minutes in length and is in two parts. The first part consists of a history of the peculiar case while part two discusses possible explanations of the mystery.
In the premiere episode of the series, the host explores the mysteries surrounding the Mona Lisa, one of two paintings that Renaissance artist and inventor Leonardo DaVinci is famous for creating. It has been unknown who the model that Leonardo used for the painting and still remains a mystery to this day. Why did he paint the Mona Lisa? Who was she and where did she come from? Did DaVinci put secret codes in the canvas of the work? These questions and possible explanations are discussed in the first two episodes of the series.
Did aliens crash at Roswell New Mexico? Is the US government covering it up? Who are the persons who sit on the committee know as the Majestic 12? Does such a group even exist? Is there a paperwork trail that proves they exist or is it a fraud? If the government has alien bodies, why are they making it a National Security issue? This time the hosts explore a very popular conspiracy theory that has inspired many documentaries and even some TV shows.
This episode covers a medical mystery that has been woven into folklore. Did Mercy Brown die of a Vampire bite and turn into one? Did she die of a rare form of tuberculosis? Was her brother affected as well? When an epidemic of tuberculosis overtook New England during the late nineteenth century, many residents blamed it on Vampires and a wave of panic spreads across the region. Why have so many ships and planes disappear while traversing the area? Did sailors aboard ship seek a UFO in the triangle? What did caused Flight 19 to crash into the sea? The host explores different incidents through history and talks about the findings of a researcher who got people talking about the Triangle.
What I Love About This Podcast
I love the subject matter to this podcast. To me, it is similar to the original In Search of Television series from the 70s hosted by Leonard Nimoy. The series is always touching on the same topics as did the aforementioned TV show except the podcast is longer and goes into more detail. The show is always very well researched and provides many different reasons on how the phenomena occurred. Although they are very opened minded, the show's hosts can be very skeptical as well. If you are a fan of the In Search of TV series, this podcast is just for you.
