With EA DICE in full promotion mode for Star Wars: Battlefront II, the hotly anticipated sequel to the 2015 blockbuster shooter, you might forget that there is another Star Wars game currently in development by Visceral Games, the studio best known for Dead Space and Battlefield: Hardline.

Many fans hoped to see details of the game at #E32017 but saw nothing — it was easy to fear yet another cancelled Star Wars game.

Visceral's Star Wars Game takes place between 'A New Hope' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'.

According to Making Star Wars, Visceral's game is being produced by Jade Raymond (Assassin'sCreed), and will be written by Amy Henning (Uncharted) and Todd Stashwick (12Monkeys). Along with co-writing duties, Stashwick is also reportedly performing the motion-capture for the main character currently named Dodger.

The game's rumored plot will be shortly prior to the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and will focus on the Empire's retribution against the outer rim where the "terrorists" that destroyed the death star were from.

The story will revolve around a dark secret of The Empire.

Dodger fits into this story after avoiding being drafted into Imperial service - leaving his home of Alderaan on less than peaceful terms. After running from his duty to the Empire, Dodger goes into hiding as a wanted man and is forced into the criminal underworld where he becomes employed by everyone's favorite kingpin, Jabba the Hutt.

In this story, Dodger will learn something terrifying about the Empire and what they plan to do with their new weapon. Since he was born on Alderaan, the Empire's plan for their new weapon that forces him onto a journey that parallels what we have seen in the movies while still being far enough separated to still be a new and untold part of the legacy.

Dodger won't be alone but is capable of fending for himself.

This is one of the more unique aspects of what we learn from the leak; Dodger will have a crew to help support him. Whether that means there will be an element of co-op to the game is still unknown, but it opens up a lot of possibilities when you really think about how the game could look when it arrives.

Along with being part of a crew, Dodger will be armed with a unique set of skills and weapons to distinguish himself apart from a certain other nerf-herder we know who joins the rebel cause. Dodger will be armed with a grapple stick, a light whip and a blaster. The whip and grapple stick can ensnare enemies to draw them close or toss them aside. These weaponry options leave a lot to still conceptualize, but could mean that we're in store for a wide selection of variants to obtain in the game: each with unique bonuses or abilities.
