Remember that nostalgic horror movie from 1990 with the wormy creatures that traveled under the sand and threatened the life and limb of everyone in their paths? Well, if you've been following the #Tremors franchise, you'll be happy to know, Tremors 6 has now started production in Cape Town, South Africa. For those of us who watched the last installment in 2015, it's about time!

Starring Michael Gross and Jamie Kennedy, Tremors 6 offers a creepy thrill ride with plenty of Graboids, more than a little danger, and well, it wouldn't be a Tremors movie without some humor. Here's what we know so far!

1. The Monsters Aren't The Only Threats

According to the synopsis, the Graboids are secretly being weaponized! Who got this bright idea? Creating a weapon out of something that can't really be controlled sounds like a recipe for complete disaster. Does anyone remember #JurassicPark?

Here's the full: synopsis:

Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!

I still wonder who thought up this name (I have to agree with Jack Sawyer; it does sound like a porno film), but nevertheless, the ass-blasters represent the final life cycle of the graboids. And they are the most difficult of the creatures to fight with their heat vision, ability to fly, their strength and their high level of intelligence. Of course, their presence does add a little humor when you consider they can shoot fire from their...well...asses.

"Are you telling me that these things fly by lighting a big one?"—Jack Sawyer"That's right. Fly right into my crosshairs, you fire-farting son of a bitch."—Burt Gummer

The general manager and executive vice president of Universal 1440 Entertainment, Glenn Ross, has said that "this is going to be the craziest, most over-the-top movie in the Tremors saga to date." He added that "it takes the franchise’s signature combination of suspense, action and humor to new explosive heights.”

Most series want to go out with a bang and not a whimper, but since the possibility of continuing the franchise will depend on sales, it's no wonder the producers want to raise the stakes in the line of movies that has garnered a cult following, much like the Sharknado franchise.
