Doctor Who; one of the most loved shows around the world since the day it started back in 1963 and fans couldn't get enough of it. However, when the show was cancelled in 1989, fans were left stumped on what to watch next until the show was revived back in 2005 by former showrunner, Russell T Davies.

The hit science-fiction show that follows the life of the famous Time Lord, the Doctor, has gone down well with fans since the revival with Christopher Eccleston. With the power of regeneration, we've so far had five past faces (Sir John Hurt, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi) and are now on our sixth, who is portrayed by Jodie Whittaker, the show's first female Doctor. Many fans are still a little "scared" by the Doctor becoming a female, but, of course, this is isn't the first female Time Lord we've seen.

Back in Series 8, 2014, Peter Capaldi (Twelfth Doctor) fans of Doctor Who were introduced to the Master once again by Steven Moffat, but in a new way—A female. The female Master, or Missy as she liked to call herself, was portrayed by Scottish actress Michelle Gomez. Missy repeatedly cropped up in Series 8 here and there, teasing fans as her identity was kept tight lipped until part one of the finale "Dark Water," where it was later revealed that Missy was in fact the Master.

Even though it appeared Missy was "killed" in the final part of the Series 8 finale, it was made clear that she has escaped death with her teleport as she was welcomed back in the opening two episodes of Series 9, located on Skaro with the Doctor, Clara, and one of the Doctor's deadliest enemies—Davros.

The love for Missy continued when it was revealed she was inside the Doctor's vault in Series 10. When Missy was let out of the Vault, things took a sinister turn as she came face-to-face with her past self. The Series 10 finale ended in style with a slight showdown with Missy and John Simm's incarnation of the Master. Missy forced her past self to regenerate by stabbing him, but Simm's version of the Master has appeared to kill Missy completely with his Laser Screwdriver by giving her "the full blast." But, is it all what it seems?

There's good news for Doctor Who fans—Michelle Gomez has let slip some rather exciting news at 'ReGeneration Who' on her panel. News has emerged that Missy will be returning to the Doctor Who Universe very soon as she will be joining the much-loved cast and crew at Big Finish Productions. An attendee at the panel shared a picture of Michelle Gomez at ReGeneration in Baltimore and quoted the picture by saying:

"Michelle Gomez let slip a spoiler: she’s recording a Big Finish story w/Missy and River Song!"

Yes, you read that right; Missy is about to clash with the Doctor's wife, River Song. River, played by Alex Kingston, was first introduced to Doctor Who back in 2008 by Steven Moffat in "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead." Following the success of this story, when Moffat became showrunner of Doctor Who in 2010, he brought back the loveable character in Series 5 and then Series 6 when it was revealed that River is actually Amy and Rory's daughter, Melody Pond. River was last seen in the 2015 Christmas Special "The Husbands of River Song," which appeared to be her final story on screen. It may seem that, but Kingston has done multiple Big Finish Stories and clearly isn't stopping!

Another fan who attended the panel confirmed the news by sharing the same information. They said:

"Michelle Gomez just accidentally leaked the fact that she and River Song meet in a Big Finish Audio story coming up! Surf Wisely!"

All that remains now is for Big Finish Production to confirm the news and share some fresh information regarding the upcoming stories. In the meantime, prepare yourself for Series 11 of Doctor Who, where we have a new Doctor and a new logo!
