Chapter 2.

The night wind was cold. There was more going on that night. The sound of alien movement could be heard around us. They had the idea to try and deceive us by way of entrapment.

Our company was only 4 men against thousands of them. They didn't know that we had the feat of magic. We also know that they were defeatable and easily tricked. We would not succumb to their evil play as easy as one would think.

The cool wind was subtle, our breath was visible on our exhale. Each one huddled in meditation waiting for the break of the morning sun. Slowly each second seemed to be decades, and it felt like it was taking forever. Mir didn't seem affected by the time or the enchantment to the continuum, he was shut off, reserved and silent.

Then after a while he spoke, but it was almost a whisper, "we have waited out worse."

It was in a sudden rush of paranoia, and thinking back now, did it have to be this day? Why not next week? Next month? Next year? Or better how about never! All together it was already a bad deal as it was. The messed up part is where to begin? I can’t place where to even start! Now it’s just were do I start? The worse part is wonder what's to come next?

I am tell this to you, so you have a better understanding. That in the darkest hole in the middle of this encampment, we huddled waiting for day to break. While we waited a single ray of hope started to filter through the darkness. The sun was finally rising this morning! We were trying to find an escape through out the night but we didn't find anything.

Then another sudden rush of feeling, looking down I noticed the sun reflecting off my armor. In one quick swift motion as the light hits my arm, I realise that while the light is being shot off it's smooth surface. The aliens seem caught totally off guard. They seemed transfixed by the light that is being magnified off the surface.

I know that I am being watched. As it is the light is also being subdued toward the enemy’s standing in front of us. The main focus of it aimed at our enemies. They all start to talk to one another in awe like this is a magic trick.

One of them came forward toward Bragnin and asked him, “How does one utilize the light of the Gods?"

Another sneered and requestioned, "if that is so, how is it that they are not mad at him for his ignorant disregard, as well how did the Gods choose a mortal to willed it?”

“That is quite odd, strange enough that they ain’t done something to him, yet,” Bragnin said.

“Look,” the general of the another army was saying, “it’s the light of the Gods themselves.”

“Yes, quite true,” the alien partner was saying. “How does one harvest the light of the Gods without them getting angry?”

“Right, but what kind of god would choose a mortal to hold the trust to keeping the light contained?” someone else commented.

“Worse what happens when the light is released as a weapon on our kind? Even better how do we hide when there isn’t even any darkness to cover up our existence? Should we run?" Bragnin restated.

Mir’s mind was racing. He felt that all he was doing is running around in circles. He was focused on finding an exit. While at the moment that he begin to think that it was rather futile, it hits him. They said that this whole place was built in a time, and space, continuum. Time is the most relevant part of it. Everything else is mimicked or mirrored.

It’s not the part we play, its playing the part we all have to, win or loose. We are the beginning to a path we are not destined to fall or fail. The idea to struggle is that we all learn and grow from the experiences gained. We are the feat of purpose that others grow from. In order to gain exit outside the gate we need to use magic.

“Hold them off," Mir yelled, "we need to put up a way out of this place.” Mir continued saying, “Razor Forcefield, will help lay cover fire, the rest follow me.”

At that moment Mir picked up a piece of metal, glass, and other debris and mutated it into weapon of war, a .50 caliber rifle. Then he yelled for everyone to take a stand. They moved as a unit, and started to walk towards there enemy. As they were holding their front line, he leveled the rifle. As he did, he saw there captain shouting orders. As soon as his head came into view he fired. he watched through the crosshairs as the bullet traverse the path to his face, nothing but blood spray.

“Captain’s down,” Mir yelled.

“What on earth did you just make?” Styge yelled.

“50 Caliber,” Mir said, “A barrette .50 Caliber, One shot, one kill, orders are as mandated!”

“Now it’s you who’s being generous,” Styge stated.

“I don’t want to have to taint anymore of our talent to swine. Besides, I saw your truth.” Razor was saying, "do I stay here an keep putting down cover fire?"

“That was?” Mir said, handing the .50 Caliber to Origal.

“I finally understood the stupidity in all this, we may have to murder all of these ugly creatures before we are free from them, right?” Razor finally yelled back.

“Well, yes technically,” Mir stated.

“Good then we need to make sure they are dead the first time!” Styge yelled to Razor.

“Exactly,” Mir was in the process of saying a lot more to Styge, but couldn’t due to them being furthered into the battle at hand. "let's hold them at bay Razor!"

“What do you want me to do Sir?” Origal asked.

“Its time that we figure out how we are going to do this," Mir said to Origal. "We ain’t got the time to dilly dangle around here and not find a way to get this encampment.”

“Well we have our magic. Yet I do not want to make it our primary weapon choice. We should utilize it as a back up resort only,” Origal was saying back to Mir.

“Right,” Styge was and had been agreeing with his commanders, “we could always transform stuff into weapons. Let's use as many of there weapons to fight them with, that would help us save the magic that we do have.”

“Yes,” Mir said, “that is a noble idea, I like it!”

“Sir,” Origal said for the second time, “What do you want me to do?”

“I want you to help me guard our frontline; we cannot let them break up our little company,” Mir was saying, “Stay low!”

“Stay low got it,” Origal said, “Why stay low?”

“Your head stands out like a light in the middle of know where,” Mir said back, “that’s why!”

“Right, keep down,” Origal said, “got it!”

So just before the edge of this outer encampment wall sat a hole. This hole was big enough to hold one person. Regardless there escape, it was being brought to a stop. Like so many had tried before, yet it had been ages since the last person had walked there. Ages ago since this place had see life, it was like walking through a graveyard with the sudden feeling of an impending doom that loomed over you. this would be the perfect place for a sniper to dig in. He got down in prone style position. After he dug himself in while laying there the alien’s looked to be making a rush to try and break through, “Captain!” Origal yelled.

“Go ahead,” Mir said with a quite tone to his voice, calm in fact, way too calm. Origal knew that something was flashing through Mir’s mind; usually in a time like this it’s always deviant.

“We have way too many of them sir,” Origal said, “your orders?”

“Stay covertly hidden and I will try to divert there fire power.”

“Right, Origal out!” Origal said.

“Styge, stay on my lead!” Mir yelled.

“Right, let go to and make this happen captain!” Styge said, “love the idea of a bloody warfare!"

As they started to make a run for it, the aliens started to put down some pretty heavy gun fire. Without a word Mir ran full long into the thick of it, he didn’t miss a beat. He only stopped once before continuing to drive forward. As Styge started to slow time, it literally started to slow down to almost a full stop, that’s when Mir was focused on just staying in a straight line.

Grabbing the first victim in the line up and flipping the alien around in a full circle is when his head was blown off with a single shot from Origal’s rifle. Still in mid run he grabbed a decent size piece of metal off the ground and transforming it into a full scale saber. Spinning into a circle cutting the second victim into two pieces, he literally sliced him in half so fast that he stayed together for a few seconds before falling apart on the ground. After he was dead he picked up his gun and loaded it.

He stayed in motion sword in one hand, the dead alien guard’s gun in the other, which he had retrieved from the dead guard that had dropped it. As he came up on the third, he threw the gun into the air an at the same time grabbed the sword with both hands and threw it. The sword had hit the guard square in the center of his chest, grabbed the gun again, while spinning knees dug in the ground and pulling the trigger, watching more guards fall to the ground, dead.

Alone Mir had and was breaking there frontline, with such a vigor of force that it had literally sent the rest running back to there commanders. As Mir and Styge were approaching the forefront of the battle, it was then that Mir had seen one alien in specific that he was hoping to see again. As he neared the point of perspective where he could over look the fortress wall that he turned and looked to see if Styge was still following him. As well gave Origal the signal to activate his H.U.D. Styge stayed close to Mir as they crouched there waiting before they advanced toward the temple wall.

“Get ready,” Mir said.

“Aye captain,” Styge said.

It was at that moment that while they were preparing to attack the temples central guard that they were noticed and forced to do the unthinkable, engage.

“Mir…” Styge said.

“Wait for it,” Mir yelled back, “wait for it!”

At this point the temple guard, being that they are the elite in the soldiers that had taken this world captive, Started to fire off rocket launchers in there direction. Mir started to run in there direction and while they would come close to him he would dodge them. Jumping over them, or jumping into a spinning circle over them. He continued still running forward. Even when they had all but missed, it was in this thought that Mir used his energy to create a plasma ball and shot it back toward them.

While he was still trying to figure things out he used his energy to make an unthinkable weapon, it shot a porcelain shell, which shattered into thousands of little pieces. The tiny pieces of glass only happened after the weapon had heated the porcelain up. It didn’t just kill the target; it literally tore them apart in the process. The reeper cannon. He kept running and was still pushing the issue, shooting off three more shells, three more targets went down. They were tore to pieces. In the center of this whole view, alien laser fire was being shot back. The way I like to say it, three against the horde.

“We need to find a way outside the gates,” Mir said.

“Righteous,” Styge said, “what about the perimeter gate?”

“How does it work?” Mir requestioned.

“Like any other gate,” Styge said.

“Yea, very funny,” Mir stated with more than that of hostility in his voice.

“I think the gate keeper is over there,” Styge said.

“Right let’s make a run for it,” Mir was saying, “it’s our only shot out of here.”

“I understand sir,” Styge said.

“What do I do, sir?” Origal asked over the H.U.D.

“Stay here and pick off any of the strays we leave in the open,” Mir had been saying to Origal who just caught up to Styge and himself. As well was handing Origal the rest of the ammunition for the .50 cal then started to walk in the opposite direction. He knew that he needed a different weapon, as well when he passed Styge he handed him the reeper cannon. It wasn’t used as a long distance weapon, yet it was as well something just as lethal.

So as he was walking away he started to pick up stuff to transform into a new weapon, a hybrid of sorts, one that he has only heard of, but he has never seen yet. He crafted two in fact. He put them at his side and continued to drive forward toward the gate keepers hold. With other stuff lying on the ground he transformed all of it into a double side by side shotgun, 12 gauge.

Once he knew that he was ready to push the issue he pressed on and moved faster, even running at this point. He stopped one last time to load the side by side. He was already hearing the cannon being fired off by Styge, who had been blasting off shards of heated glass at the aliens. He loaded two shells into either barrel of his side by side, 50 shells 50 targets. He was shooting while in movement, it was either he killed the aliens or critically injured them, if not behind him he would hear the distinct sound of a .50 caliber going off.

“100 yards and closing,” Styge said, “better pick it up a knotch!”

“It looks as if we just caused a massive blood bath inside the encampment,” Origal said.

“How many dead do you think in your one run?” Styge asked Mir.

“Honestly?” Mir asked.

“Yes,” Styge said, “I want to know if you actually keep track like you did in the old days!”

“So far as of now, 265 since I killed Dropitron earlier.” Mir said.

“Really,” Origal said in shock over the H.U.D.

“Yes!” Mir said.

“How is that possible?” Styge asked.

“Carefully,” Mir was saying, “what do you mean possible?”

“That you killed Dropitron!”

“Because I have an arrogant pig headed attitude, for real that’s how!”

“You have got that right,” Styge agreed.

“I think that he thought he was untouchable,” Mir had been saying, “almost if he thought that he was invincible!”

“Impenetrable,” Origal restated.

“Right,” Mir said, “Exactly what he failed to see until it was far to late.”

“Door,” Origal said.

“Ready on my mark of Zulu go code,” Mir was saying as he was pulling his close combat weapon, “breach in 3, 2, 1 go Zulu!”

After placing the charge unit, he activated it, touching it giving it a charge of powered energy. After stepping a few feet back he started to count down 5 seconds of time. Styge and Mir stood a few feet back allowing it to detonate. He drew both of his judges, a top on bottom ¾ shot gun shell that shot 12 steel ball bearings at its victim. Classified as a double ought buck shot hand gun. He walked into this room after the door had been exploded inward on it, saw three guards standing there.

"Take cover,” Mir yelled to Styge.

Styge had already posted up behind a pretty decent size metal panel and stayed there. While he sat there he heard all four chambers on Mir’s duel double ought sound off. Shooting two full incased shells at two of the aliens. Styge sat and counted in his head 5, 4, 3, 2, slowly started standing up. While reaching for the trigger on his automatic weapon that he picked up while walking into the room, leveled it and put the red dot on his victim. He sent off a series of rounds in burst, then watched his opponent hit the floor a few second later.

“Mir,” Styge yelled, “you good?”

“Yes, reloading,” he said as he started to chuckle.

“Gosh, I thought you were dead!” Styge started to say, “numb skull, shot all four shells at one alien then?”

“Nope,” by this time Mir was laughing so hard, “two!”

“What?” Styge was gasping now.

“YES,” Mir said, “I said it!”

“What in the heck did it do to them?” Styge asked a little confused.

“It tore them alien’s suckers apart!” Mir said to Styge.

“Tickle me say what?” Styge said back to Mir, “hawkwardly enough I find that a little amusing as well!”

As they stood there trying not to draw anymore attention to themselves, he opened his hand to emit a small amount of light. The light emitted out of his hands palm in the room. After the explosion it had taken out the electrical in the room. His hand acted like a flashlight to get around the room to look for a way to get the perimeter gate open.

They also looked at the creatures that were laying there to see how bad they had just got capped. It looked as if each had 6 gapping big holes that there alien slime for blood was oozing out of. It looked as if the shelling cut through there skeleton frame like butter. The other thought that Mir had was why they didn’t have any protective gear on. First of all no armor, second why they didn’t even attempt to fight back or even shoot back in retaliation.

“What are you thinking?” Styge asked Mir.

“Do you think that it was total shock?” Mir asked.

“Totally,” Styge said, “I bet that they thought that this place was 100% breach proof!”

“You think,” Mir had re-questioned.

“Bank it!” Styge said.

“I think I can,” Mir was saying as they neared the panel that activated the gate lift to open it, “I guess I was just a little shocked was all.”

As they were standing there dealing with the actual gate is when they activated and triggered the silent alarm, “What do I do,” Styge yelled toward Mir, “Sir!”

“Grab the gate,” Mir started to yell, it was at that point that alien laser fire started to hit the wall outside the little cut out in the room, “I will cover you!”

He didn’t just walk to the panel that activated the gate, he literally ran for it. While he was passing it he hit it as hard as he could for good measure. He didn’t believe in the idea of having to do things more than once. He hated doing things multiple times just to prove a point.

As he was on his way back toward the door, he pick up a colt M4. Nearing the door he grabbed the other side of the door panel staying inside the frame work. As he sat there, in his mind he was thinking that the worst is still yet to follow. While he kept looking out the door he noticed that the alien’s either stayed a good distance back or were headed in the opposite direction all together. Yet, He didn’t want to put it past them that they are only just waiting for the two of them to make a run for it.

“Let’s move,” Mir was saying, “they are and have been waiting for us at the gate.”

“What do you want to do to get through,” Styge had been saying to Mir, “this is going to be tricky, but you do see it right?”

“It’s almost like they think they have a trick up there sleeve, waiting for us to slip up,” Mir said, “I feel as if they have something big laid out in store for us.”

“Well we really cant afford to stay here to find out,” Styge said back, “like old times, you go right, I will go left and cut off the head of this dragon as it is custom on our planet.”

“You got a deal!” Mir said loud enough for Styge to hear.

With that they ran for it, laser particle beams hitting or exploding near them. With every full long step they took they were fighting to stay ahead of there zig zag as an idea of concept. Styge started to get pinned down and was forced to stop and reload his Colt M4. Mir on the other hand kept loading the judges with ever full step he was into and pulling the trigger faster than he was able to reload, Styge, fought to stay next to Mir as much as the next person would.

Then the load ear numbing sound of something gigantic that struck the ground with such a force that the ground shook, even Mir looked worried, Styge could see that from how there eyes meet in the center of this whole picture. That was only the beginning, the start to something that was going to be hard for both of them to focus on. They slid to a stop, Bragnin stood there within a good 50 feet of them. They stood fully erect and waiting for Bragnin to give the horde that had collected around them the order to attack.

Styge looked at the expansion that had literally stood there. He literally had no idea of what to think. They stood there silent an calm waiting for Bragnin to throw the first punch. The thought that they were just standing pissed Mir off.

“So you killed Dropitron?” Bragnin asked Mir, “I told him that one day someone would kill him.”

“So what’s that got anything to do with me?” Mir said, “I could honestly kill you and it wouldn’t faze me one bit!”

“Whoa whoa whoa now, is that what you are really planning on doing?” Bragnin asked, “I’m nothing like Dropitron, so I would reconsider your options carefully!”

“I just did!” Mir yelled and with that he disappeared.

Styge at this point only waited for the monster to start coming toward him. Then he created a green ball of energy to shoot at this creature that was running toward him. The closer Bragnin got to Styge, The more of a reason that Mir had smoked into the fight again. Once that electric blue sword became visible, it was just as he was getting closer to Bragnin’s throat. Yet it didn’t faze him in the least.

Mir and his counter re- strike point of the same sword was shoved deep into his chest after the blade had disappeared and was being held handle first by Styge. They played at a game that only looked as if to be a loosing perception, one that is uncanny as well as ruthless. Then its the victim that is forced to live or die

“Stay focused on the task at hand,” Mir yelled to Styge, “let’s move!”

“I have the stray’s sir,” Origal said.

“Great anything within 25 feet tag!” Mir said back to him.

“Yes sir” Origal replied.

Every couple of feet he could have swore that he heard a bullet wiz past his head, still running. He was thinking make the gate.

“Origal,” Mir said.

“Sir, I am waiting on your orders?” Origal replied.

“Be ready to exit the gate, Styge ain’t far behind.”

“Sir,” He started, “you?”

“I am right on top of you 50 or so feet and closing, Origal,” Mir yelled, “NOW.”

As he said it Mir through a claymore behind him into the air and knowing that there were a few alien guards following in pursuit he left them a surprise. As soon as the bullet from the .50 caliber hit the claymore it shot 15,000 tiny metal ball bearings directly at them. It honestly looked like someone was shooting a mini gun into the center of there crowd.

“Nice one Sir,” Origal yelled

As Mir neared Origal, Styge said minor words of enchantment due to something that made all other seem perfect. A shield rose from the ground. It was there wall of protection as they made there way out of the gate. As soon as they were outside, Styge looked at Mir with the look of what the?

“Where on earth do we go?” Origal finally asked before Styge actually got the chance to.

“Actually that’s not much to wonder,” Mir was beginning to say, “do any of us have an idea of were we need to go?”

“What do we need to find first?” Styge asked, “The kid or, the spectral.”
