Rumours have been floating across the internet recently explaining that John Simm will be returning to #DoctorWho reprising his role of The Master. It has now been confirmed by the #BBC that the rumours are true, and we will be seeing his version of The Master for a third time! We last saw John Simm as The Master back in 2010 alongside David Tennant for his final story as the 10th Doctor, which was the heartbreaking story 'The End of Time'.

Ever since Simm's last appearance, fans have been wondering what actually happened to his incarnation of The Master after he was taken back to Gallifrey by the Time Lords. Is this finally about to be resolved in Steven Moffat's final series as Doctor Who showrunner?

"I can confirm that it's true, thanks to the power of time travel I'm back. It's always a pleasure to work with a great team of people and I can't wait for you all to see what The Master gets up to in the next series." - John Simm

Shouldn't This Be Kept A Secret?

Fans of Doctor Who were not meant to be told about Simm returning as The Master until an exclusive trailer aired directly after episode one titled 'The Pilot' on Saturday 15th April. But, due to The Sun newspaper leaking out the major spoiler, the BBC were given no choice but to confirm this was true.

"Nothing stays a secret for long on Doctor Who. But you'll have to wait a little longer to see what exactly The Master is up to and how he makes his return to face the Doctor." - Steven Moffat

However, before this announcement was made, Doctor Who fans knew that series 10 will feature Michelle Gomez returning as Missy, who is the latest Master, but in female form. So does this mean Doctor Who is going to have its very first Multi-Master story? Yes it does! Steven Moffat spoke to Digital Spy and explained that Simm and Gomez will come "face to face" in the upcoming story.

"It's been a huge pleasure to have fan favourites John Simm and Michelle Gomez face to face in the same role! It's not often you get to see a solo personality clash." - Steven Moffat

Doctor Who series 10 officially begins its epic journey on Saturday April 15th. So brace yourself, as we view the universe anew with new companion Bill Potts, played by Pearl Mackie!
