A Look Back at How the NSK Devised Their Plan

Influence

Though the New Sweden Kids (NSK) were old compared to their teenage and 20-something students, these 30 and 40-year-old professors of economics were on the vanguard for the revolution known as the Great Transition. Professor Connor Mettle ensured that the trio would gain political exposure by asserting his scholarly influence upon the Delaware legislative body. And Professor Milo Kiln became the mouthpiece for the group. With grey eyes and coal black skin, this gentleman forged ahead in the fight for the United States government to recognize Delaware as not only the first state to ratify the Constitution, but the initiator of all liberties granted to citizens.

Solution

In the struggle, the NSK battled with the ferocity of a panthers devouring a white-tailed deer. Their assertiveness lead to newspeople sometimes replacing the Kids with Killers in their collective moniker. Kiln once said, “If we can get them to see that the current way of life can be improved, and that the same way to go about fixing social ails cannot work, then we may have a change.”

Mettle squared up with Kiln. He looked into his eyes and stated clearly, “This war of ideas in which we are engaged requires that we hold up a mirror to the state of this state. It is in our hands that we might deliver Delawareans from the ugly results that other states now face. As we present our solution to these politicians we must ignite the youth. With this revolution, we must ignite in young people a sense of purpose. Yes social media will play a part in it. But the focus is to change minds, not just update statuses.”

Allies

Donnell Wayson walked into the room where Kiln and Mettle were conversing. He was applauding.

“Yes, gents. Yes. Our knowledge of how market functions and the proper role of government ought to propel our supporters to further the actions for change and champion those ideals. And you’re exactly right, Con Man. The youth are our allies in combat. With their support, we may execute all of the specific goals which we have outlined thanks to Dr. Francine. She inspired, enlightened, engaged, and challenged us to be the economists we are today. It is with the intention of saving countless lives and building upon the future that I continue this fight.” Wayson turned away from the two men. He returned with a single sheet of paper.

Liberating

“On this page is a list of the freedoms which ought to be recognized by government. What do those bureaucrats even know about a credit default swap? How many hours have they spent totaling how much a CEO should make? It is time to flex our economic muscle and tell these people that their dealings should concern liberating business, untying the binds of thought, relinquishing government’s grip on education, and separating the public officials from the realm of science.” He suspended the document in midair as Kiln and Mettle gazed at it. Kiln spoke up again.

Change

“This is a turning point. It is a radical, bold, new statement to break the holds of an overbearing state. No, this movement does not have to involve bloodshed, loss of life or limb. And no, not all government officials will be on board for such a change. In fact, the cause may just prove to be one which advocates for a rational alternative. The list that you have formulated ought to serve as a beacon for an intellectual upheaval that is far overdue. Now, with the power of the spirit of the Founding Fathers and the certainty of us carrying on the legacy which they initiated, let us pick up the torch for liberty and shine upon the great state of Delaware.” The three men lifted their heads high. Their resolve to undo the wrongs and establish a fresh code of morality allowed them to see and begin the Great Transition.
