As a boy Glytch grew up on a large colony ship, he lived with his parents and his siblings. Their life was full of hardships that can’t be denied but they got by. At the age of 5 is when Glytch’s life changed, pirates attacked the colony looking for treasures and fortune among the richer populous. They were ruthless in their endeavors; their murderous intent was almost palpable. Warning messages flashed on all devices, before leaving they had done something to the ships main core. Fearing for his life Glytch’s parents shoved him into a small pod that could save him, and he was left to drift through space. He realized nearly too late that his brothers pod had malfunctioned, and not launched. All he could do was watch the ship he had known as home explode. His pod being pushed further with each blast wave, he gripped his father’s satchel to his chest, his last gift.

The pod drifted lazily away from home, the momentum gained from the explosion not lasting very long. The pod monitored his vital signs and began the process of putting him into a stasis until he would be retrieved, and so he slept. Time passed and the pod was seized and brought into another colony ship. The pod sensing the change in density, temperature, and various other external changes began to wake Glytch from his stasis. Glytch awoke to a burly and angry looking man standing above the pod and staring down at him. Clutching the satchel to his chest he stared at the man only wondering about what the next action would be. The man reached down and picked him up out of the pod, he stared at Glytch and gave him a once over.

“The hell? You found a midget in a pod.” The man bellowed to another who had already begun stripping the pod for parts.

“I don’t control what’s in the damn things, just pick ‘um up,” the man replied without stopping his work.

“Welp, we got plenty of debris to collect since this area looks ripe for the scavenging,” he dropped Glytch who landed with a thud on the hard surface of the ships floor. Looking around Glytch was shocked at how much more pieced together this ship looked then his own home. He backed up from the two men and looked about, not knowing what to do. “What should we do with the midget?”

“Don’t ask me.”

“Could give him to the boss….”

“Don’t know why, boss don’ need no rats.”
